There are at least 45 nutrients, in the form of compositions and elements that are found in foods. The food compilation and elements are necessary for the healthy growth and maintenance of the blood cells of the human body. The variety and nutritional content of foods supplied to the body in the daily diet, determine to what extent the body can develop and function.

If a person determines to fill his body with excess sugar and carbohydrates instead of eating foods with balanced nutrients, then he must be prepared to suffer the consequences. The price paid for bad eating habits is usually serious illness such as heart diseases, cancer, arthritis, osteoporosis and other diseases with high risks. Statistics confirm this statement. In this modern era, we have witnessed numerous artificial flavourings, colouring and preservatives in the foods we eat.

Cancer, heart and coronary diseases, are frightening because they make the sufferer miserable and, indeed, shortens life. These diseases are caused by damaged cells in the body and the accumulation of fats. Nutrients are needed to repair and to create new cells. It is important to note that anti-oxidizing vitamins actually prevent or treat the damaging of cells. Studies have proved that a moderate intake of antioxidant vitamins E. C. and Beta Carotene can prevent one or both of these fatal diseases.

Good Nutritional Eating Habit: If one eats enough fruit and vegetables provided the soil in which it is grown contains sample mineral – then one needs not to be concerned about a lack of minerals intake. Avoid eating pre-cooked frozen foods as far as possible. Vegetables are better eaten uncooked or at least half-cooked.

• Eat three different fruits per day
• Eat three vegetables per day (one leaf vegetable, one orange vegetable). A portion is about ½ a cup.
• Eat three starches per day – depending on how active you are, e.g. Whole Wheat bread, porridge and potatoes.
• Eat one lean protein at each meal – lean red meat, fish, chicken, nuts, yoghurts or low-fat cheese.
• Eat very little visible fat – if fat is eaten, it is better to eat cold pressed oil.
• Drink very little alcohol.

Food Supplements: Some nutritional supplements like vitamins are vitamins produced in laboratories from isolated chemicals that mirror their counterparts found in nature. There may be no major differences between those produced in labs but natural vitamins found in food are purer and devoid of unnatural chemicals.
